well i just got the charge and decided first thing i was going to do was take a few pictures.... now when i take the picture literally it takes about 4 seconds after pressing the button for it to take the picture then the screen goes black for about 10 seconds then comes back up to take a new picture with the picture you just took as a thunmbnail in the bottom right corner.. anyone else experience really slow camera on this phone or is it just me...

Just took a couple pics on mine. Instant. I'm using the SD card the phone came with. It takes a picture as soon as I press the capture button, goes black for less than a second, then sends the preview image.
Maybe try a different SD card? If that doesn't solve it return the phone.

Mine is also very slow. What brand of memory card did yours come with? Sandisk or Samsung?
Unfortunately the memory cards offered with the charge has not been consistent for everyone. Pop out your memory card and if it Samsung brand or says 2x anywhere, you need to get yourself another memory card. It looks like people with the sandisk 4x card do not suffer from the slow camera problem

The samsung class 2 card is garbage, that is the first thing I would replace. A sandisk class 4 or trancend class 10 are both nice. Get them only from a reputable reseller ie. stay away from ebay. Try new egg or directly from the manufacturer. There are too many knock offs out there that have a brand name but are cheap garbage.

With such a nice camera I prefer to shoot it all at 8mp, though I tried to shoot at a lower resolution and noticed a significantly faster response from the camera. The memory card had to save a smaller photo and could do it more quickly, so it's definitely the culprit.

Well the 32gb sandisk class 4 SD card I ordered came yesterday. I copied everything off the samsung class 2 card and onto the sandisk. I immediately noticed a massive difference, the phone booted much more quickly, it read the SD contents more quickly, it runs faster in general, and best of all, the camera is VERY fast now!
If you have a class 2 card you NEED to replace it!
