Camera options. What does this mean?

I have the version note. It has a few camera options. It says 13m 9.3m 6m6 and 2m or something like that. Does "m" mean megapixels? Why would anyone want less megapixels than the 13 that come with the phone? Please view the attached file to see what I mean.

Yes, it means you can take photos at different resolutions. Why? Sending by MMS, email, uploading to FB, Tumblr etc etc.
