Camera / Phone call multitasking?

A friend used to take a picture with her Photon while on the phone and it worked, but her Note 2 won't do it. I didn't post this under the Galaxy 3 forums because, despite their similarities in software, it's not actually that phone.

Can anyone tell me WHICH (if any) other camera app can get around this problem?

Ive just done it.

No issues. Started a call to my voicemail, clicked the home key, swiped along to camera app, clicked app, clicked take picture. Clicked home key, went back to call and ended it.

Simple.
