Help camera problem

Hi can anyone help me, every time I take a photo of something with a bright background the picture goes dark, this happens all the time especialy with the sky as a background.when viewing the picture I am about to take the screen just darkens and I can't take the photo as its then to dark, but if I then point the camera lower with less sky in the background the picture then lightens to what it should be.
is this just a settings problem or is it a major problem ?
thanks
bb

I've noticed this as well. When you are ready to take the picture try touching the screen to focus on what you are taking a picture of, this seems to help.

I've noticed this too recently (since Gingerbread now I think about it)...as you say lowering the camera slightly seems to register the light better but that sometimes means I can't take the picture I want then.:(

If you press menu and go to image adjustments then you can play with the exposure til you get the image you want, you would have to do this for each picture however. The camera auto-adjusts to avoid the picture being over exposed by the light background, it does seen more sensitive since gingerbread though.
