Help Camera problems

Anyone have issues with their camera on the SGS2? I've only had my phone for about a week but the problem seems to have started on the 2nd day. I dismissed it at first since I don't take a lot of pictures with it.

Anyway....most of the time when I turn the camera on (primary camera) the screen comes up black. I am able to snap a picture, sometimes, even though it is showing nothing but black. However, it takes a few seconds for the camera to complete the picture taking. Often, the picture will not take and I get a message saying "camera failed." I have tried turning it off and back on but that doesn't seem to work on a consistent basis either.

The secondary camera seems to work fine, no lag, I have always been able to see what I am about to take a picture of, etc. It is only the primary camera.

Is this a common problem with the phone and are there any fixes available? Thanks for any info, this is my first phone in ages and I'm pretty green when it comes to this subject.

I guess that's possible? But, it works sometimes and not others...there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it and I don't know what could be blocking it once it goes to black.

try installing "samsung camera firmware update" which u can find in samsung apps under utilities section first and then come back with your results

ive been trying to find the camera update on samsung apps.. but i cant find it. i looked under utilities, its not there. i tried searching for samsung camera firmware update, 'camera update' and many variations of the words but no go. am i doing something wrong?
