Help Camera, Search and Home button not working

Hi, I have bought Moto milestone few weeks ago. After few days,

- my camera key is not starting camera application. Once I start camera from menu, I can capture pictures from camera key. I think somehow camera start functionality from that key has been disabled.

- Similarly my home and search key have also got disabled. When I press the button, phone does vibrate for key press indication but nothing else happen.

Can anyone please confirm how this can be sorted out

Do the buttons get disabled when the camera is open? Or are they always disabled? A couple months ago i had a similar problem with my milestone. I can't remember exactly what i did to fix it, but you can try these things.
1. Reboot the phone.
2. Go into the app manager for the phone.
3. Stop the camera if it's running.
4. Clear the data for the camera.

You should also try clearing the data for the gallery app. If i remember correctly, the problems started happening one day when i clicked the camera icon from inside the gallery.

Hi, I wanted to see if you ever resolves your issue. I an experiencing the same problem on my Milestone and it just started a couple of days ago. I have had my Milestone since October. Another issue that I am having is that I am unable to use the lock pattern to unlock my phone. It is set up correctly in settings just as it always has been but I can turn my phone on and off without using the unlock pattern. This started happening at the same time that my camera, home, and, search buttons stopped working. :confused:

Check the time set for the lock to be enabled.

Re-flashing the phone is he easiest solution.

To me it seems that you might have installed some app that is doing that as it seems strange that two people would start having these problems almost the same time.
 
To my knowledge there is no time set on the unlock setting. It always worked before but I just checked the settings again and do not see that option on my Milestone. Also, can you explain what 'reflashing' does/is or possibly give me a website link for instructions?

The setting is called Screen Lock Timer and it is on there. I do not have my Milestone on me but it is there.

Reflashing means reinstalling the phone software like reinstalling Windows on a PC. You will find instructions for this in the main sticky thread on Milestone forum.
 
I would be interested in seeing where this "screen lock timer" is located. There is no such option on my Milestone under settings/location and security/screen unlock pattern. If you do have a Milestone please tell me where this is located. I can't imagine 2 Milestones having varying options in settings.

It is there. I do not have my Milestone on me ATM but i the evening will check it for you.

It may be located under the security lock options and not pattern unlock.
 
Again, please advise as I have been through every option in settings and there is no such menu/option for "security lock options".
 
Mine is an A854. Perhaps this model does not have that option because again, I can assure you that this is not a feature on my phone. I have reiterated that several times so I suppose I will need to find an alternate forum to get assistance with the initial issues that I posted.

Have you followed my advice and flashed the phone? That is the only thing everyone will tell you wherever you go.
