Camera Shutter Sound

Any tips on either how to turn the shutter sound off without rooting my phone, OR suggestions of camera apps that don't have a shutter sound.

THANKS!

Camera settings > Silent.

edit my bad... Camera Settings > Off.

Hmmm I don't have this in my camera settings. The only thing I have ever done to get rid of the shutter sound was to silence the ringer on the phone. That works for me

Stop trying to take sneaky pictures of your neighbor bent over in a skirt... Problem solved.

I personally don't see why the sound is an issue for so many people... Unless you're trying to do something like I mentioned above.

Lol. I do have a practical need. I have an 8 month old baby. Sometimes I like to take pictures, while she is sleep. The sound either wakes her up, or makes her move from the "cute sleeping position" that I was trying to take a picture of!

I have resorted to "One Shot or Not"... I have to get a good picture with that first shot, because I won't get a chance to try a second shot.

Lol understood.... Just turn the phone to silent then, doesn't take long.

Get Tasker and use it to create a task to turn the phone on silent when you start the camera app, then turn off silent mode when you exit the camera app. Easy to do and works like a charm.

Mine comes with this setting by default.

PHONE not camera.... Settings, sound, silent... Simple

That is my PHONE... Sprint Galaxy S 3 (GS3). There is no setting for sound on the Sprint version of the GS3. The phones clicks whenever you take a picture, even with every other volume setting turned completely down or off.

Camera Settings from top to bottom:
1. Edit shortcuts
2. Self-portrait
3. Flash
4. Shooting mode
5. Scene mode
6. Exposure value
7. Focus Mode
8. Timer
9. Effects
10. Resolution
11. White balance
12. ISO
13. Metering
14. Anti-shake
15. Auto contrast
16. Guidelines
17. Image quality
18. GPS tag
19. Storage
20. Reset

That's weird it should come with shutter sound either on or off. Almost every phone has that. You don't have to turn your whole phone on silent just because of a small camera setting. I personally don't like the shutter sound either just because.

PHONE as in phone settings.... NOT camera settings. There's not a way other than that, period.

Yeah, I know. Even with all other volume settings on silent, it still clicks. I don't mind that much really. The only time it is a problem is when I am trying to get a picture of my baby daughter, when she falls asleep in some crazy or cute position. Like when she is falling asleep while eating! Hilarious! But as soon as the camera clicks, she wakes up.

Are you just using the volume keys to turn it down all the way? All that affects is the ringer volume I believe. You have to go into settings.

Putting phone on vibrate or mute worked for me but I would have to remember to actually change the settings before and after taking pic. Downloaded Tasker and set up a profile and it works perfectly, silencing camera shutter when camera is opened and then turning volume back to normal when closing it. Unfortunately Tasker cost $6.50 in play store but to me worth it.

I have an SGH-I747 S3 on AT&T with the 9/19 OTA update installed. I have the "turn off shutter sound" option on the lower section of the settings (*) menu. You have to swipe down to see it.

pull down your notifation center and toggle off sounds on the top pane

This. For those that want to take pictures of sleeping babies and stuff the last thing you want is your camera shutter to be on silent but the phone still on loud for texts and calls.

For those that can, mute the entire phone from the notification drop down menu is definitely the best option imo.
