Root Camera with D-pad?

When I take pictures on the droid I like to slide out the keyboard to see the screen better. I use the center button on the d-pad to snap the picture, but was wondering if there was way to use the up and down keys on the d-pad zoom in and out?

Camera Zoom FX(paid app in market) allows you to use the left and right buttons on the d-pad to zoom in and out, along with giving you a slew of other features.
