Camping. Yep.

I see people on here talking about camping out or getting to the store 2-3 hours early, do you guys really think this is necessary?

VZW does not have any reservations for phones. They have a "list" that they are taking, but it is not to reserve your Droid. You will be waiting like the rest of the folks. I spoke with a Regional Manager by luck yesterday. He was negotiating with the mall to let them open the kiosk at 7AM. He said in our area that there is little chance of running out of Droids before early afternoon. The only way it would happen is if they have crowds larger than the iPhone crowds.

So, don't worry about it unless you are concerned with how long it is going to take to process everyone's orders. It will take about 20-30 minutes to process each person.

I am going at 6AM. If they line is more than 10 deep, I will just go to BB to pick up my preorder at 10AM.

The store has a limited stock. If your name is on their list you are guarenteed to get one.

possibly. but it is more improbable than probable. It really is just fun, & if you can do it with ease and have some buddies come along too.. it really is a ton of fun.

I'm going to go out there tonight after work. Im stoked!
 
I just made an appt for noon. No getting up early, no staying up all night. Pick it up and head for Atlanta. We'll see how the Google Navi works.

LMAO!! Man, that was an awesome post. I've been up for 20 minutes, and I'm already laughing hysterically! I've lived in so many places like that already.


So, it is currently 34 degrees and snowing here. The weather predicts an overnight low of high teens or low twenties. Who will be camping at my local store tonight?

You better hope someone does... so you can exchange body heat with one another. I haven't been in 13-19 degree weather in quite sometime now... Even 37 degrees is chilly, whew...

no one. haha. I'm going to be in my car though. Its going to be in the 40's with rain. Lets hope the cops don't give me shit!

Matt: "I'm waiting for the Motorola Droid."
Cop: "The what?"
Matt: "It's a smart phone."
Cop: "Uh huh... Do you know the store opens at 9?"
Matt: "Yeah, but I want to get it as soon as possible in case it gets sold out. It's a really hot item this year."
Cop looks around and sees no other cars or people in the area: "... Right. I'm going to have to ask you to get out of the car..."

Matt will need a lot more jokes at his expense to stand the cold. This is probably a great kickoff of the jokes though.

Matty P - what movies does a droid camp out require? Did you plan the showings with a droid theme?

hahahaha. funny stuff guys. Cops are stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if they made me go home. But I'm going to try. & if I have to go back, I'll be back about 4 in the morning.

I'll probably grab I love you man, step brothers, Transformers 2, & maybe a few for the girlfriend's liking as well haha.
No real movie out all about a phone unless I get 1 missed call. WHich absolutely blew horribly. I guess it is kind of in the spirit of things.. the iphone can't keep a damn call going longer than a minute & 46 seconds, might as well get the missed call and call back from the droid. haha idk, thats the best I can do.

Maybe Eagle Eye.. didn't that have motorolla phones in it?

But it's called the Droid so any of the Star Wars movie should be applicable too.

That hurts. I hope everyone doesn't think that. I'm sure there are stupid cops and stupid teachers and stupid IT guys. Lots of good ones too. I'm not a cop but I do know some and they have an often times thankless job for doing something that many don't want to do. I'm not picking on you as that is a common attitude but I think it's unfair to paint all with the broad brush of "stupid" when it is a few that make them look bad.

Isn't it true for any profession, any item, or anything in our world? a few ruin it for all. That is how our law is even made sometimes. Drinking ages, teen insurance rates any lots more. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, I don't like cops much.. but i do respect many as I know many. I have a problem with getting in trouble or having power trips based on traffic bs or things like staying overnight to get a phone. It has happened to me before. Are we really hurting anything? nope. But they think because they have a badge they are above us sometimes, but when in reality our country is run by every one of us, we just elect officials to appoint us. Its a flawed system sometimes but I still think its the best there is.

Anyway, you can write back but I think we should let this die after.

i like what a cop is supposed to stand for, just not what A LOT are doing these days.
 
I have a good question for you....while you are there tonight...think of all the movies that would not exist if they just had a cell phone.

i went to my local verizon store earlier today and they said they have well over 100 phones available... no reason to camp imo.

Also, not to burst your bubble but you probably won't have much trouble getting this phone if that's why you're camping out. My local small college town Verizon has 150 in stock and back home in Rochester my friend works at the Verizon there and they have 350 in stock. I'm assuming it's for the fun factor I guess? I guess, if you find freezing your ass off/using large amounts of gas to use the heat in your car, eating food that can give you 2000 calories in about three bites and being sleep deprived, fun.

I eat well and maintain a healthy diet. Plus I exercise & lift more than most people I have even met. I don't mind having a couple slices of pizza, a donut in the morning and a coffee. It is fun.. You don't have to heat your car all night.. You heat it up for about half hour on full blast.. then you keep the doors/windows closed the rest of the night. There are a such thing as blankets/sleepingbags/pillows. Plus, Ill sleep whenever. midnight, 2am, whatever. It is for the fun factor, your right. SOmetimes people don't see fin in things, but I have brought numerous friends along and they ALL have confessed it was a blast. Anyway thats fine if you don't agree. It really is a lot of fun.
 
I'm going to walk into our in-store warehouse and hide one for myself so I can buy it when my shift ends. :D

Of all the days for them to give me the 9-5 shift :rolleyes:

Well good, I respect your drive to eat right and exercise. I'm a strength and conditioning coach and I guess it irritates me when people get excited about food. Maybe I over stepped. Enjoy your fun but I think this time around I'll be sleep in my bed until I get my precious droid in my hands. Let us know how your adventure goes..

A modern car burns roughly 1 gallon of gas for every 6 hours of sitting idle. WOW THAT'S LIKE, ALMOST 3 BUCKS!!!

If you're addicted to junk food that's not our fault, nor is it McDonald's fault... stop projecting your own issues onto other people. The rest of us can manage to make/find perfectly healthy food for the situation. Is it so difficult to pick up some fruit and nuts as a snack? Or make a sandwich and put it in a brown bag?

I pity anyone who has to suffer your presence in real life. Is your full legal name Debbie Downer, per chance?
