Root Can´t Install Philz Touch

Hi guys, please help me with this.

I have a I9500 and recently updated to oficial 5.0.1 version. I don't like it and want to get back to KitKat (russian version I think).

The problem is that I'm trying to flash Philz trough ODIN and it shows as completed, reboots and everything as usual, but when I enter in recovery mode I still have the original. I also tryed TWRP and have the same issue.

Base BAnd: I9500UBUHOD1
Kernel: 3.4.5-4762109 / dpi@SWDD6404#1

Thanks !

1. Make sure you are attempting to flash the correct version of recovery for your device.
2. In odin, you flash the xxxxxxx.tar.md5 file, and not the xxxxxxx.zip

You said you enter recovery mode but I assume you meant download mode?
I.e power off then hold in the POWER key etc (dont know the combo on a 9500) then VOL-DOWN?
(Not VOL-UP)

Sorry, maybe my English is confusing.

I enter in download mode (volume down), flash Philz with Odin and after pass message and auto reboot I turn phone off.

After that I turn it on in recovery mode (volume up) but still no Philz, only original recovery.

Hope that's more clear

Not sure where to go with this for you mate.
As TWRP is still being developed for your device, I would, on the advice of old ironass on here, try the latest TWRP. I know you mentioned you tried it but did you try the latest version from here?

I have just tried. Didn't work.

I want to get back to KitKat. Is it too risky to install via ODIN a stock ROM downloaded from SAMMOBILE without having any custom recovery?

Thanks for so much time

I dont know if its the same on the GT-i9500, but on the GT-i9505 you cannot go back if you are on a LP bootloader. You can try, but it may very well fail.

You dont need a custom recovery to install stock firmware. It can only be done through Odin.

Finally I flashed KitKat again. After that TWRP worked the first attempt.

Problem seems to be Lollypop 5.0.1 OTA. At least the version I get in Argentina.

Thanks a lot.
