Can a modem affect battery life?

[jaman29]

I'm on stock gc01 rooted with the GB27 modem because I have tried everything under the sun to get the stupid GCO1 modem in the modem repository to flash in recovery but in every recovery available to our phone I get a status 7. I have tried about 60 times to get the GC01 modem to work but no go. So instead I'm using GB27. Just curious if using that modem will have an effect on the GC01 rom? I'm guessing probably not unless I have crappy reception but I have great reception at home. Anyways, what do you guys think?

You can stay on the GB27 modem if you want. It will work just fine.
