Help Can an Android phone be used as a field monitor

Ok, I'm hitting a brick wall on this and I'm hoping someone here can help me.

I have several Android devices that I could use, including LG G5, LG G3, Samsung Galaxy 5, 4, and 3. I would like to use the Android phone as a field monitor for my Sony SLT-A57 camera. I know that you can tether many different DSLR cameras to a smart phone using an OTG cable and and app like dslrcontroller. Unfortunately, my particular DSLR does not support that.

Seems like there still should be a way to do this. I just need the HDMI output from the DSLR to be converted and brought through the USB on the phone. Does anyone know how this could be done? I'd also be willing to consider alternative methods like wireless transmission. I just can't figure out how to do this.

If the target device doesn't support HDMI input, which is probable, one possible solution would be to use an Eye-Fi memory card (if that allows output of video images). The A57 has 'Eye-Fi Connected' certification.

From what I can tell, Eye-Fi cards do not support live video.
