Help can atrix display avi files?

Just got an email with an avi video clip. the atrix showed a green flickering box but to audio seems to work. any ideas?
 
I have a couple TV shows that i watch on my phone on a regular basis, and they are in .avi format. I have not had any problems with them
 
The stock video player will not play AVI files, however there is a free app called RockPlayer that does, works great on almost all video files.
