can camera be muted?

settings > sound & display > Silent mode. Hit the check mark box on the right of it.

i saw that....that doesn't silence ringtones and alerts too?

Or hold down the power button until you get the power-off menu.

Or you simply press the volume rocker on the side of the phone until it goes in vibrate only mode (no sound).

I'd have to do some more investigating since I haven't ventured into this arena yet, but I would assume... if it is like other phones... that you could create a "silence" mp3 ringtone, and assign it in camera sound settings.

I'll check it out and get back to you guys.
