Root can coolpad get JELLY BEAN update

lets say for one second myself and playfulgod were suddenly neo from teh matrix and could alter code in real time etc etc. we might stand a chance to bring a 2.3 device up to 4.1. we would need to be that good because without kernel source you guys arent even getting off the ground with anything. anyways lets say we did build a fully functional jellybean rom, how are you going to install it?

correction cant build a finished build due to the fact that u cant install it to see if it boots :rolleyes:correct me if im wrong :p

Hi. I'm just learning (self-taught through resesrching). So not to sound ignorant , why cant we build a KERNEL to support the upgraded ROM? I just rooted my coolpad device, now not quite sure what to do from here-other than the obvious NANDROID BACKUP :)

1) no way to install as none of us can figure out wtf they did to prevent use of a custom recovery.

2) no src for the kernel... one could be done from scratch..... but I doubt anyone with the skills/knowledge to do so will take interest in this device.

3) refer to #1. ;)

hardware wise... yes it cant run either... with tons of work and will likely never be fully functional.

You need to do more research here on AF before buying a device. One look at the Coolpad ATR page should be enough to scare anybody away from buying this phone :)

I bought the new Huawei knowing that chances of any dev interest were slim to none, but at the very least it comes with Vanilla ICS, which is a good step up from Gingerbread LOL

Coolpad uses some program for S Blank Flash, it's the only thing I can think of. It has the actual mode for it if you hold the camera button but it's a split second deal. It's very similar to the motorola phones like the Defy in that aspect. The motorola s blank flash driver worked on it.

No program though.
