can i back up one one htc phoone and restore it to another

Question for all the experts out there... my son is using a Thunderbolt. needs to be replaced. I am getting an HTC DROID Incredible.

If I root the Thunderbolt. Do a back up. Then root the new phone and install the same SD card can I Restore from the Previous backup since it will be the same UI??

You should be able to restore all your app settings. I wouldn't restore any system settings or restore apps. Just re-install them from the play store and then restore just the settings from your backup. That works best for me and cuts the restore time to about 20% of doing it all from scratch.

It all depends what firmware both phones are running. If one is running gb and the other ics its best to do it from scratch.

Only do download able apps absolutely not system apps/setting. Or you'll run into big trouble. But if you decide to do this, make sure you back up the entire rom before restoring from one phone to the other.

On the other hand if your talking about making a nand back up on old phone, and restoring it to the new phone once rooted. That's a big no no, flashing a Rom on a phone that's not designed for a phone is begging for a brick.

My advice only restore down loadable apps via titanium, nothing else.
