Root Can I customize my current rom with features found in other roms.

I was wondering if I could possibaly do a few changes to my current rom.

I am using k3lsomod rom at the moment. This is the best rom I found mainly because it fixes the optimus m freeze/reboot issue. It is fast and smooth.

What I wanna change is
1. There is no built in hotspot. Not good for me, as I depend on internet for work.

2. I would like to implement theme chooser found in cm roms if possible, adw launcher isnt the best imho.

Anyone know my possibilities? I love my phone not freezing, I have tried over 20 roms/ports and so far this is the ONLY one that doesnt freeze or even fc whatsoever
 
you mean using your phone as a hotspot? Their are apps that let you do that. :) And as of themechooser that a cm thing cause its dealing with all the framework-res.apk

Only tether app I got to work is pdanet. Ive tried options like build.prop and other tricks but cant get it for any other tether app.

And as for the theme chooser, is it possible to change the framework-res.apk.?

Nope, you have 2 options, flash the themes found in kelsos's thread or move onto cm7....if you have problems with cm7and even tried fix_permissions then maybe the problem is within the firmware you are running. I am currently running LW690 firmware and my phone reboots when i use the web browser, if I upgrade to OM 2.2.2 firmware and reroot, the problem goes away in the same cm7 backside rom.

I havnt tried the fix permissions thing. I would love to have cm7 again. Could I guide me in the right direction for that trick?
 
Wow I never saw that in any of these new posts. Thanks ill try it afyer work. If I can get it to not freeze with cm7 that would be awesome
 
And your sure it works thay easy? Or do I hve to update stock then root? I have a first gen optimus. With cm7 I get about 1-2 minutes before it freezes sometimes worse

Yea, if you still have problems without updating, update the phone and try again.
 
Would I be better off doing the update first? Or try fix permissions first? Sorry for all the questions but I appreciate ur time sammy
 
You gotta understand when he flashes a new rom he will have to fox permissions again cause its a fresh flash. Cause permissions to change.

Sorry for the confusion. My question was should I do firmware update first? Or try fixing permissions on cm7 first.

Meaning would it be worth my time to fix permission, find out it dont work then update firmware and fix permissions again... Should I skip permission attemp 1 and just get firmware first
 
Leave it on current firmware, fix permissions. If still unstable, update firmware>reroot>use rom manager while on wifi, choose Optimus C to install cwm recovery>erase everything except SD card>flash backside >flash gapps >reboot

If unstable>fix permissions.

If still unstable>settings>cm7 settings>display>uncheck rotation animation>reboot.

I fixed permissions and within an hour I have freezes and fcs like crazy. Phone isn't usuable unless I'm only making calls. I can't even use play store for 3 minutes.
 
Also I'd rather not use rom manager. I've bricked this phone 6 times already. Last time was fastboot caused by flash image gui. Can I just flash cwm? And why wont RA recovery work? Always works for any rom I try
 
Upgrade firmware, when you flash the recovery you flash it twice with rom manager. I haven't had a problem with it ever since playfulgod got it working.
