Root Can I delete these apps?

jhob

Newbie
I rooted at the weekend and have been deleting some unwanted apps, particularly the crap demos that orange installed on my phone!

There's a few left that I'm not sure if I can delete or not, does anyone know if these are safe to delete?

DCSImpl.apk
DCSStock.apk
DCSUtility.apk
Facebook.apk
HtcFacebook.apk
HtcFootprints.apk
IM.apk
OAS_Bravo-v4_2_1_5-20100225-2-prod.apk
OrangeImFrPlugin.apk
PCSCII.apk
PicoTts.apk
Pixota.1.5.12_20100823_WVGA_froyo.apk
Quickoffice.apk
QxdmLog.apk
Stock.apk

Re: htcfacebook and facebook - I do use facebook but wasn't sure if these were used by the system in any way?

Thanks for the help,
John

From your list I've deleted Footprints and Quickoffice - usually from the zip before flashing a rom. Can't comment on the others as I've not got an Orange phone.

An alternative is to just use Titanium Backup Pro to freeze apps directly. If you did that by mistake, you can un-freeze an app. This seems to me a safer approach.

Thanks, successfully managed to get rid of all those mentioned. I may use text to speech so kept PicoTts.apk, didn't know what that did before.

Remaining on my potential hit list are:

DCSImpl.apk
DCSUtility.apk
IM.apk
OAS_Bravo-v4_2_1_5-20100225-2-prod.apk
OrangeImFrPlugin.apk
PCSCII.apk
Pixota.1.5.12_20100823_WVGA_froyo.apk
QxdmLog.apk

Largely because their purpose is not clear to me.

Usta - thanks for the suggestion. I took a nandroid backup before meddling and did have to use it once as I somehow managed to break my browser. Now that I have it stable without the unwanted apps I'm going to take another backup.

Cheers all for the help, appreciated.
