Root Can I have some advice please.

I'm try to root my Nook Color 1.2, I have all the nessacary files, when trying to copy the "Update-cm-7.0.3-encore-signed.zip file, I get a progress bar starting at 0, it stays at zero and hangs my laptop.

I feel as though I am missing something, as everybody says its so easy. Could it be a lack off memory on laptop?

I presume all you're doing here is to copy (or move) the zip file from your computer to the SD card on the Nook, that shouldn't be much of a memory hog on the laptop, so I wouldn't think that's the problem.
If you're connecting the NC to the laptop, you might try using an adapter for the SD card instead, to see if that makes a difference.

Is it a new or used card?

You've already flashed the image and are just copying the files to it?

Huh? This confuses me (which we all know isn't really that hard to do).
FLASHED the image? Did you maybe mean 'downloaded'?
I'm thinking he's trying to copy the ROM zip to the SD card in preparation for flashing.

Sorry, my bad. Just re-read the OP.

Bad usb cable? Not in usb mode?

Make sure you have your NC set in usb mode to receive files and you are using the original B&N cable.

Dang! I hoped to score a 32 GB HP TouchPad today for $149. Dalingrin's on the Android team to port CM7 over to it.

I've been watching for the last couple of days, I've not stumbled in to any of the cheap ones. Best Buy is, of course, sold out.

I got tired of BestBuy, they put me on hold for 10 minutes today and the next possible delivery is on Friday when I'm out of town.

Went to fleeBay and the 32 gb ones are about $280 and up, double what the $150 sale price. Went to bid on the cheapest w/ shipping and the first two sold out before I could complete the sale. So I had to pay about $10 more.

Kind of going out on a limb but figured if Dal is going to play with his Touchpad, the NC will get less attention, but dual core, bigger screen, working BT, camera and mic for close to what I can sell my NC for, isn't too bad. Of course my wife will still have hers.
