Can I install a leak without root

Just put the leak on the sd card. Think I'm gonna go ahead and install it today or tomorrow finally. Sick of waiting.

Also, make sure it is in the correct location. It should be in "the root of your external SD card." It should not be in /root, or in the built-in flash memory. Using File Explorer, it should look something like this:

Finally, this will not work if you have S-OFF or root. It just won't.

Remember, if it works, REINSTALL IT. You must do this twice. Once it boots up for real and starts showing you the Setup process, shut down and start all over. Just do it. Don't ask. :D

Well I'm completely stock, it should work right ? Maybe ill just try redownloading the leak

Yup, so far everyone I have seen having problems had S-on, PH98IMG.zip in the wrong place, or renamed it wrong .zip.zip

They figured it out and it worked after they corrected it.
 
If you connect your phone to a pc -- this pic shows which card to install the file too -- you can see both memory cards, you want the one that is 'removable'

If, instead, you are using ES File Explorer --> note the file path /sdcard/ext_sd (the system reports the card as a folder - I hate that) -- really messes people up when we keep saying "put it on the external memory card" and they don't an external card because android shows it like a folder >.<

and yes, file name of PH98IMG.zip.zip happens all the time -- should only be PH98IMG.zip
 
Has anyone gotten the edit finction (tap and hold like to delete but drag to the upper left corner) to work? Does it work on any version of ICS?

What does it do (can you edit or eliminate icon lables)?

It works the same as 2.3 did, but only works with certain widgets. The developer of the thingy you're trying to "edit" must enable that function, for whatever it's used for. I don't care for it myself.
 
Had difficulties getting HBOOT up. Kept fast booting. Don't know what I did, but finally got it and have successfully loaded leaked ICS. However, I was unable to reboot a second time... same problem. Holding volume down and hitting power would only fast boot. That said, I seem to be running fine. What problems should I be looking out for or expecting by not rebooting a second time?
 
Oh yeah, damn... I forgot to mention. Turn fast boot off. Sorry, my bad. Try turning it off, then redo it.

If it had installed 100% the first time, Fast Boot would be off after the install I believe. I could be wrong.
 
Thanks, TMW. I found that fast boot was on. Maybe because it was on previously? (that doesn't seem right given that it wipes all data) I have since turned it off. Of course since everything seemed to be working fine... I've gone a ways on rebuilding the phone. Would you recommend I bite the bullet and do the second round install anyway?

Well I guess I won't have to install the leak. ICS is pushing to the phone now. It's about time Verizon!!
 
Some of us may need to be able to install .12 still. It depends on the changelog, whether it's worth bothering, and if we're even able to get it OTA.
 
so the ota for me sucks and battery is getting killed, so i need to get the ruu .12....how do i do this? what do i need to download in terms of hboot and stuff like that? this may already be a thread and i just cant find it, so if so, maybe just post a link. haha i am confused, thanks

Have you done a factory reset to see if it solves your problems? If you're going to go the RUU route you may as well try the reset. It could save you some time and hassle.
