Can I just format my micro-SDHC?

Hi all. I've had my DHD for about 8 months now, and I have hardly any room on my micro-SDHC (16GB). During that 8 months I've installed a lot of apps, removed a lot, rooted and installed customs ROMs, made multiple backups. In short, theres a lot of stuff on that card, and much of it I don't need. For instance, I appear to have accumulated loads of map information for European countries that I'm unlikely to visit (at least, I'm unlikely to visit them and need GPS functionality.)

Rather than going through the card and manually removing anything I don't think I need, can I just format the card? (Of course, after saving my nandroid backups to my PC, and backing everything else that's important.) I'm going on a trip soon, and I'd like to reclaim about 5GB on the card for video and music.

Sorry if that's a dumb question

If you are rooted, I guess you have ROM Manager? Just an idea, but there is something called ROM Manager Janitor on the market (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.Gnathonic.RomJanitor&feature=search_result) - this cleans up old backups automatically.

It freed up a little over 750MB off my SD card... I know that this is a little less than a 5th of what you are after, but any free space is free space!! :)

Worth installing to save space in future!

Thank you both for the tips. Worked a treat. Now have 6 GB of video, all my apps and backups, and still 4GB left on the card

No worries Maxy... ROM Manager Janitor just means that you're phone will manage the backups itself in future, so saving you a little space all the time!! :)
