can I load Word files onto Eris?

mount SD card and drop the file anywhere. open quicktooffice on your phone, it comes stock, it will search for any compatible files and list them for you. click to open

plug phone into your computer via USB and go to your notifications bar on your phone and choose MOUNT SD CARD
then just drag and drop.

and dont worry about sounding ignorant. you will catch on. took me a while to figure out how to install apps :/
now im custom making my own. just give it time and play around a litle
