Root Can I re-rrot my evo 4g, id says not rooted anymore after acciidentally accepting OTA

Hi I have Evo 4G. My frind had rooted it for me. I was trying to install custom rom using boot manager. I screwed up somewhere and accidentally hit yes when it asked me to do OTA update. Now it says my phone is not rooted. Is there any way to go back to being rooted? or am i forever stuck? I am sorry I am not really tech savvy, but can follow directions. Thanks in advance

Pull the battery, put it back in. Hold power and volume down.

This will get you to hboot. Is the phone s on or s off? What is the hboot version? Does it reference locked or unlocked at the top?

Finally, select recovery. What happens?

This is what it says:

I am not sure. I may have done something stupid and deleted files. Because now all sprint crapware is back on to phone. I downloaded a pp from market to see if phone is rooted and it stated phone not rooted. Titanium back up also gave same message sorry you must be rooted to use this. Is there way to Re-Root? Thank you again for all your help and time.

your fine, no need to re-root. you have s-off. but go back to the bootloader and in the menu select recovery. wt hat happens when you do? we need to know if you have a custom recovery so that you can either flash a rom or get the superuser flashed so that you can get root permissions.

After i click recover i get this screen
Clockworkmod Recovery v5.0.2.2
-reboot sytem now
-applu update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe partition
-install zip from sd card
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advanced

ok first off i would stop and take the time to read this guide: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. skip the rooting process and go to the after root section.

i would start by recommending that you switch recoveries to amon ra2.3. it is a much better recovery then clockwork mod. i have a section for switching recoveries. after you switch recoveries then please read on how to flash a rom and how to make a nandroid backup.

i would suggest that you try mikg3.11 it is waaaaay better the stock. you can get here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html#post2329154

yes. it says
-1012-01-12.07.41.10/
I selected that. Phone goes thru installation process. Once complete I reboot. But I still get all the bloatware (sprint nascar and stuff). I tried using Titanium and it says sorry must have root to use. Some how I have lost the root. Forgive me this may sound dumb. Is there way to start from scratch and re-root. At this point I dont even know if I have a rooted phone or not.
Sorry again for my obvious lack of knowledge in this regard.
Thank you once again

ok so this is the steps i would recommend:
1.download mikg3.11 and the superwipe .zip from the guide
2.switch recoveries to amon ra
2. make a nandroid backup
3.wipe everything but the sd card
4.flash the superwipe file
5.flash mikg3.11
6.reboot
7.enjoy mikg3.11!!!!!!!!
