Toward the end of last year, I started to experience some problems connecting to a particular wifi system. To try to rectify this, I started messing around with all kinds of settings. Now I'm finding that my phone (HTC Desire HD) is having difficulties with most wifi systems. The phone seems to connect to wifi OK (the signal icon appears strong), but I'm usually unable to move any traffic up or down. If I switch off wifi (go back to 3G only) I can get access to web services OK.
Trouble is, I'm off to the States on holiday later this week, where I hope to be able to use my wi-fi connection extensively. However, I'm afraid that I may have screwed up the settings somehow. I definitely want to avoid using the 3G network for data due to the expense of doing so.
Is there any way to restore the phone to its default settings without endangering my contacts, downloaded software, etc? I'd like to see if in fact I am at fault and messed something up.
