Root Can i revert back to stock recovery

Hello

I've used this site for a while and its been really useful but now i need your help.

I've previously rooted and flashed a custom rom and i've had no problems with that but my screen is starting to fail again as its unresponsive at the bottom of the screen.
As i've had this problem before i know i need to take it back to T Mobile to fix it but i have voided my warranty and need to restore it to the original state.

I have already got it back to a T Mobile android 1.5 rom but because i have a custom recovery it wont update to 1.6 and therefore 2.1

I have also tried to install the T Mobile RUU from here

but it errors when it reboots the phone

Is there anywhere i can get the stock recovery seperatly or can anyone help me getting the RUU to work

I've looked at lots of forums and im too confused to carry on looking as nothing seems to work

Sorry for the long winded explaination but the phone screen will die soon and then im stuck with it

No i tried to install the RUU but i get errors when its trying to install so all i have managed is to flash to an original T Mobile 1.5 Rom
