Root Can I root and keep Orange Signal Boost ?

Hi Folks,

I have an Orange branded Desire S running Gingerbread and want to root it so I can use Tasker to send button commands, plus, I wouldn't mind having a try of ICS etc. My concern is losing the Orange 'Signal Boost' App (UMA / VOIP), as I have zero signal indoors and need the Signal Boost to get any calls at all at home.

Has anyone successfully put a new ROM on an Orange Desire S and still managed to keep the Signal Boost app ?

I'm very much a newbie to all of this, so go easy on the jargon please !

I don't mind having a bash as long as I have a guaranteed safety net - some way to revert the phone back to the way it was, if it all goes wrong. Is that possible ?

As long as don't use some from of permaroot, and root via revolutionary instead, use the ENG Hboot, you can use an RUU to get back to Stock.

You need to do a lot more reading yourself, but what you want can be done.

Does Orange signal boost work? Does it use extra battery? I've not heard of it.
