Root Can I root my Incredible with Gingerbread?

My Incredible is out of warranty now and I want to try to root it. Since Verizon updated me to 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) it looks like I can't do it? Do I just have to wait and keep checking? Is it likely that I'll be able to someday or is it hopeless?
 
If you have never been rooted before and you received the 2.3.4 OTA, you cannot root. There is a chance root will be regained but the age of our phone means we don't exactly get top priority.
