Root Can I root?

Okay so I was wondering if the new version of unrevoked3 would work on my phone. I have hboot 2.10 and software # 3.70.651.1.

If you need anything else tell me and I can supply it.

I have all the latest updates on my EVO and just rooted 10 mins ago with unrevoked3. no problems.

I wouldn't suggest using unrevoked. I used that last week and have had nothing but problems since. I ended up having to go completely back to stock a rerooting using a different method. I used AutoRoot. My phone has run much better since.

I would like to use unrevoked because it seems the easiest and will allow me to keep the Sense rom and all of my data.

Use this - it uses Unrevoked Forever for the S-OFF portion of it anyway, but it's seamless and integrated.

I believe every root method requires a data wipe - it just depends what you have backed up and thus are able to restore.

I used Unrevoked 3 yesterday and didn't have to do a data wipe. I can now wireless teather. That's pretty much all I wanted Root for.

To those who keep suggesting Universal Auto Root, you have to choose the option to use the eng bootloader, otherwise it's just going to flash unrevoked-forever. Ultimately, there's not much of a difference between using unrevoked3 or this method if you do it that way.

Is it only the eng bootloader that has the skateboarding androids on the main HBOOT screen, or does unrevoked3 have that as well?

unrevoked3 just gives you s-off with whatever hboot you have. The method that gives you the eng bootloader gives you s-off by fact of the matter that the eng bootloader comes as s-off (unrevoked sets s-off lower than hboot). That being said, I'm pretty sure they all have the skateboarding androids. If you have the eng hboot, you will have version 0.76. If you have any other version, you do not have it.
