can i send sounds?

I just checked it out and it's on page 23 of the User Guide PDF....

Open a new text message, click on your menu button, then click attach. I'm not on a Droid, so can't say for sure...Just going by the user manual (and it turns out it works exactly the same on my Eris, which I did verify)...

Sorry I wasn't much help. That is really odd..I just checked my brother's Droid and indeed, there is no option to send a audio (only pictures and video)...

I don't think VZW is responsible for this, since my Eris works (when you click Audio, it goes straight to the SD Card...)

Have you tried any 3rd party messaging apps from the Android Store? Perhaps one of those will do it?

Lastly, I checked the bug list on the front page of this site (the one about Dec 11th update), and it does not list this situation as a bug...

I want to send a ringtone that I made on my droid in a text to a friend

Download astro from thr market. Browse to the file you want to send and send it/to their phone's email adress via gmail.
Verizon phones default email is 0000000000@vzwpix.com
The 0s are the number with area code. It'll count as a picture msg so they don't need a data plan to get it.

this (with Astro) is what I use... Astro located the sound files I need, then I Play+ add as ringtone) then with handcent I can MMS right to recipient! Love Handcent. Made SMS+MMS soooo nice on the Driod. even has the iPhone look as a setting. (txt bubbles....) :)
Try using Handcent SMS it the only way to send ringtones currently on the droid.
