Can I start a new club? GN2 broken screen club

As silly as this looks, I am *so* encouraged by this:

Extreme Invisible Shield - TEST

The thing is that these Best Buy employees actually applied the Invisible Shield product to the phone and put it through it paces with no breakage. I had this same product on my Benz and I was astonished that it was impervious.

A runaway grocery cart smashed into my beautiful car (and I had a Designo paint job). I got out and was unglued because I just knew that it was ruined. I took it to the dealer who had applied the sealant. They took a look at the garbled polyurethane mess. But told me they didn't think the damage had gone through. I was doubtful. He pulled off the product and there was NO damage whatsoever! I was flabbergasted!!! They re-applied a fresh seal and have a customer for every car I will ever have. The stuff works! I didn't think about it for a phone but seeing this, and knowing what I do about it...Yeah, baby!!! I'm all over this!

Same test, different angle - Better visual on the drop test:

I realize that the gorilla glass isn't indestructible but I'm really disappointed that it broke so easily. I've dropped my EVO a dozen times and never had a problem.

Agree. I am surprised at that as well. I am converting over from an iPhone and I know how easily they can break. Surprised that gorilla class would crack from such a small drop.

threads like this make me so paranoid about my en-route note 2...

no good cases have been released yet!! ahh...

but my heart goes out to u, mine would probably skip a beat if this happened to me.

i dropped my Nexus a few times, but nothing like this ever happened. is the glass different on the note?

yikes.

Just reading this thread topic made me worried...sorry to hear what happened, but man...makes me think. My phone has fallen out of my pocket so many times before. I still don't think it'll make me use a case, but man the Note 2 is way more fragile than I thought it'd be. Just like the drop test that they did on CNet where the phone fell out of the girls lap (very common drop test) and the screen shattered. Granted, that was concerte (as compared to wood), but still worrisome.

Just put the polyurethane overlay on it and be at peace. Why worry if there is a fix that doesn't take away from the esthetic of the phone? Personally I am not a fan of covering a phone this gorgeous with bulky stuff ala the otter-type of case. So, I'm really glad to see that the polyurethane overlay at least appears to work from what these kids did to it.

I saw this test too rdalcanto. I was impressed that the phone fared so well. But I hated the dents and nicks on the silver portion. This test did make a difference to me. At first, I was only going to get the poly face protector. I have now decided to get the full coverage. I'd hate to chance the sides getting nicked and scuffed up like that. Full coverage is only 10 bucks more from what I saw.

Like you, it does make me wonder though, what angle causes so much damage like the OP has suffered? Admittedly, I *don't* want to know firsthand, lol

The gorilla glass is on the outside...a lot of times what happens is the screen (the actual (in this case) super amoled HD panel is what breaks, as opposed to the gorilla glass on the outside. The vibrations carry right through the body of the phone onto the inside..where the actual glass is cracked. The only thing the gorilla glass really helps with is if you put your phone in a loose pocket with keys, or change, and stuff like that.

If you bought it with a credit card, they usually offer 90 day accident protection. Stores usually will take it back within 30...
