Can I unlock without rooting?

I have a Bell Canada SGS2 and I want to unlock the phone without rooting. Is this possible? I know I can pay Bell $75 to do it...they can go to hell. I also know there is an app that may or may nor work (helroz).

Are there any other options to unlock the Bell Galaxy S2 WITHOUT rooting? Not interested in doing that, I just want it unlocked. Thanks to anyone who can help. I've searched the forum, and Blue1k's thread, but, have not come up with a definitive answer.

Please help! Cheers. :D

You will almost certainly need root. You could flash a rooted Chainfire kernel with Odin. Run Chainfire's S2 sim unlocker from the market, re-flash a stock kernel then reset the binary counter using a usb jig.

Rooting is straightforward. There is an excellent guide here. It also has links to the other bits you'll need. Once you're rooted you may decide not to go back. There's so much more you can do :D

Haven't used sim unlocker myself but it seems its not without risk.

this is what i did to unlock my S2. checked out on ebay. there were a few sellers who do unlocking. contacted a reputed one and forwarded my IMEI and some info and that is all. in couple hours, the code was mailed to me. entered it and was unlocked. it was a big surprise to me that it worked out so easy and smooth. give it a try and let know. cheers..

Not the answer your after but,

I rooted my phone recently and downloaded an app from the market specifically a galaxy s2 unlock app, for free, within a few Minnies the program had tan, gave me my codes needed, tried a different Sim and bingo it was unlocked.

I know Otis not what you wanted to hear, but the rooting etc was really easy!

Cellunlocker.net will sell you an unlock code for about thirty dollars. I've done two Bell SGS2s so far and each one was a breeze. Turnaround time for the code is about an hour.
