Help Can I upgrade or not based on my situation (Verizon)

Hi All,

I just wanted everyone's opinion on whether I can do this or not.

Situation:

• Broken Samsung Galaxy S4 digitizer
• On Verizon EDGE program
• Contact not due until Nov 15th, 2015
• Buyout will cost $199

So just to have a phone to use, I switched out my S4 to a basic phone I had. I logged into my Verizon acct and saw that my line is now showing the basic phone vs the S4. I see that it gives me the option to upgrade the basic phone to (lets say S6). I did not pull the trigger because I did not know if the system would let me upgrade using the basic phone, because the S4 was not paid off. Can this be done, any opinions would be appreciated.

I'm sure that if you went through with the upgrade (from your basic phone), somewhere down the line they will catch it and you'll be smacking your head.

Upgrade? Yes. But you will also have to upgrade your plan to a two smartphone plan, I think.
