Help Can I upgrade the android platform on flytouch 3

Hi there,

I was wondering if I could upgrade the platform on the flytouch 3 from android 2.2 to android 3.0 or even the new released 3.1. Is there anyway I could upgrade to the new platform, if so please take the time in letting me know how because I was thinking of buying the flytouch 3 asap. :)

Thanks in advance :)

Not yet. There are people working on it but it has not been released yet.

I strongly suspect [99.999%] the answer is yes but, until somebody does it [and I understand there are people working on it as I type] , that's just my opinion...

My suspicions are based upon the simple fact it runs on lower specced mobile phones so unless 'The Mighty G'[trademark applied for] specifically code against it it will happen sooner rather than later. (And, if they do, it will only delay things a bit.)

Thanks for your reply, I really hope it'll be very soon because I really wanna get the flytouch 3 and I wanna upgrade it to the latest android platform asasp :)

There are people ready to work on this.

The problem is that Googol said that will not release source code of Honeycomb until Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) will be released (july\august).

Asus have released the source for Honeycomb on their tablets.

  1. Follow the link to Honeycomb above,
  2. click on the 'Download' tab
  3. Select 'Android' from the OS drop down list
  4. Click on the blue plus sign next to the words 'Source Code'
  5. Click on the link corresponding to your desired download source
Hope this helps...

I read in an advertisement recently that Honeycomb will be coming out for new FT3 tablets. I have no idea if this is binding or not but it does seem like it is inevitable.

Thanks for the link, I'll download the source code right away, do u have any idea on how to upgrade the flytouch 3. Is it the normal usual way "like rooting the flytouch 3" by copying and pasting the source code to a memory card and inserting the memory card and just turn it on, or is there another way to do it. If you have any idea on how to upgrade it please feel free to comment.

Thank you :)

Sorry my friend, although all the links are all still in place it appears they have taken down the source...

from a vid on youtube honeycomb is run from your sdcard so you dont have to root the device as it only runs if you put the sdcard in and back to your tim or stock OS if you take it out. pretty cool. also the higher quality your sdcard the faster it runs

The web browser looks a lot like Dolphin...

Yes, I like Aldiko too, shame the latest update broke it...
