I just purchased the Galaxy S4 (awesome phone) now a friend of mine wants to buy my old Bionic just to use it on wi-fi at home like a tablet. I cant seem to get that part to work. I even took out the sim card.
Thanks in advance..

I *think* I recall Verizon blocking exactly this

Someone with their service will have to confirm.

I know I can use my old sprint phones on WiF

I use my Bionic on WIFI all the time.it is real handy if you just want to play games or listen to music.I have a lapdock and it works fine.
I still have my old Sim card, and that is all I needed.

Really? I've used my OG Droid which is disconnected on wifi no problem. Would the thinking be that an LTE phone wouldn't work without a SIM?

I can't seem to find a source to backup what I was thinking. It was something I read a long time ago from a user, and I only remember it because it struck me as very strange.

Maybe the memory is kaput

I use my OG like this, too. And I plan on using my Bionic when it's replaced. That a carrier would neuter the unrelated (to their network) functionality of a device I own would be very, very, upsetting to me.

Hidden bypass: Holding the phone vertically, touch the black space above the W in Welcome, the black space directly under the clock, the black space in bottom right hand corner next to Emergency call, and the black space at the bottom left next to Emergency call.
