Can LauncherPro get any more awesome?

Am I the only person experiencing a severe decrease in available widgets with LP? I tried to replace the HTC widgets when I installed LP, but even those aren't being populated to the widget list.

I think he is talking about ones purchased through the market as kind of a replacement for the ones we cant use from HTC with LP. I have been getting the same outcome. Things that worked before like some live wallpapers or a contact widget I got to use instead of HTCs one, is now not working correctly. Other programs are now running slower as well. The ones that dont go to the list, I have restarted phone and they show up but work horribly.

Ended up uninstalling LP today. Too many little bugs and quirks for me. I will wait a bit and try it out again at some point. Thanks to everyone here who answered my questions when I had one!

HTC widgets CANNOT be used with LP. It's been mentioned a 'few' times in this thread.

we need to put it in the freakin topic title apparently

Maybe you should...tool.

I'm not asking about the HTC widgets. It's pretty obvious that I cannot get them. I'm asking for replacements or widgets that are similar.

The Pure's were a good suggestion. I'm looking around to see if there are any others to choose from before downloading (since they are paid apps).

And unless I'm just not seeing it...Dazzle cannot turn on/off the Mobile Network.

And how do I switch back to Sense without fully uninstalling LP?
Get the Home Switcher app in the marketplace. It's free, and allows you to easily swap and change defaults.

I too just changed my default back to Sense today. LP just has too many things which aren't ironed out yet. Maybe someday soon, but just not yet.

for everyone looking for a 3g on/off widget....all u have to do is hold the power button like u are going to turn the phone off, once the options pop up, the bottom option will turn 3g on/off....i use it all the time...hope this helps

Like I said, it's not just HTC widgets. Plenty aren't showing up that otherwise would be in the list. If I install a weather widget to replace the stock HTC widget and then can't use the new widget either, LP isn't just useless--it's crippling. What good is having seven screens if i can't load widgets?

Please note: I am NOT TALKING ABOUT HTC WIDGETS.

You can't use htc widgets with LP. :D

seriously, list the ones you can't use, maybe someone has a thought or work around.
I think i have two or three , a battery and a clock, oh and TWC.
also look at the "layout" screenshots for idea's, it appears that widgets do work, maybe not just the particular ones you have

did you people know that you can put 15 app shortcuts on the bottom app toolbar?
why is there such an obsession with "widgets"?
put your calendar app on the toolbar for fast calendar access; put your "people" app on the toolbar for fast access to your contacts, and so forth..filling up all these screens with widgets REALLY put the hurt on your battery, so if you can get the same info just as quickly with a app shortcut, you should try it..And, use fancy widget; its identical to the htc weather/clock widget, except you can actually CONFIGURE it!

You dont need an app for contacts since you can add a direct dial button or direct message button like a widget. (to dock or homescreen).

As for calendar, it is nice to see what is coming up. I use Jorte calendar. They have a ton of widget options.

Fansy Widget is one I use as well. Love it.

Amen. Aaaaaaaaaamen.

I can't figure out the love for widgets. I've tried to find some useful ones. I mean they do add some visual variety on the screens. But I just can't figure out their practicality.

What good is a clock widget? There's a clock on the notification bar. What good is a weather widget? I know what the weather is like right now thanks to my real life window widget, where I peek out the nearest window. The only actual useful weather information, such as a forecast for chance of rain in say 6 hours, is only accessible by tapping the widget and launching its respective weather app. Which of course bypasses the need for a widget in the first place.

I just keep trying to find some widgets I would like, but I can't manage to keep them on my screen for longer than a day or so before removing them since I always just launch the app anyway. Engadget? I'd rather just look at the list of posts in the app instead of having them shot off at me stock ticker style on a widget. I find that annoying, not beneficial.

Of course settings shortcuts, like brightness, wifi, and all that. Those are widgets I actually understand the desire for.

So is no one else having daily force close issues with Launcher Pro? I keep up with updates, so I dunno what's going on.

Anyone? Bueller?

I have yet to see a force close. It is likely a memory issue. That seems to be the cause of 99% of the FCs reported on the LP bug forums. The developer is working on a workaround, but it's really a limitation of the Android OS's memory allocation to apps. So ideally we have to wait for Google to up that. Which they still didn't in Froyo, so it could be a while...

maybe 1 force close in 3 weeks, but thats it..normal for ANY phone

sounds like you have some sort of conflict going on with a program that doesnt like launcher pro

which one is hard to tell

I occasionally get force closes with LP, its not that bad, but what really annoys me is a lot of my widgets won't load. In its place will be a box saying "problem loading widget". They are not HTC widgets. Mainly Beautiful Home and Pure Grid Calendar do this. To get them back, I have to delete the error box, and then hold in the screen and add the widget all over again.

I've had that happen a couple time, but it was always because I accidentally killed the application and so I think it just freaks out. I also am having some FC issues, its not memory related because I use system panel a lot during the day. And I really have NO idea how to pinpoint just one app...
