Help Can LG VOLT be used on Straight Talk BYOD?

Can I use my my LG Volt to buy a SIM Kit for the Straight Talk Bring Your Own Device service? Its a Data Done Right phone but youd think flashing CM or something or even Stock z3 non DDR it should be ok right?

Do I have to pay to get it unlocked or can i unlock it?

You need to talk to straight talk about that. Your carrier has to unlock your phone, and they won't do it until it's been active for at least a year.

I have not had this phone for a year yet. That surely sucks.

Do ANY of those "Phone Unlocker" programs actually work? or is it a "Carrier Side" job ONLY? I can easily go buy another phone, which i should just do, but for some reason i LOVE my LG VOLT and im attached to it!

Unlocked or not, it's going to ultimately come down to whether or not straight talk will accept it, which I would be surprised, and if it's compatible with their network. First thing you need to do is ask them.

Straight Talk will not accept the device. I've already inquired. I am looking at buying a out of the box unlocked device I can use on any network. Virgin Mobile has been ruined by Sprint. I cant see staying with them no more then a few more months at most.

I guess ill just have to do the same, Look around for a device that is already UNLOCKED and makes accepting any SIM/Carrier possible.

I LOVE my LG VOLT tho, so many great little stock features. I guess its time to start researching other phones, Easily rooted, with certain features such as the IR sensor and other things.

You could always convert you Volt into a Wi-Fi only device.

You may be able to use your Volt on a Sprint-branded based MVNO such as RingPlus or Red Pocket (which apparently takes Sprint as well as GSM devices). I've been able to use VM phones that haven't been on their service for a year, without unlocking... but I don't know how the Data Done Right software varies, or if it restricts the phone's usage more than a regular VM phone.

You can try an ESN Checker to get an idea (RingPlus has one on their website), although it may just show that your phone is active on an account with another company.

Well Sprint is what I would really like to get away from. I really want to join Verizon because the sprint service in this area is not the best.

I found a Straight Talk phone I like. Via only looking at specs.... samsung galaxy grand prime... Does anyone know an LG phone that's comparible to the Volt I can get a Verizon network?

Must be: Rootable, LTE, close in Screen Size, Internal memory 8GB, sd card, Quad Core processor. same if not better dual cameras with rear flash. Android 4.4 - 5.1. If possible the IR sensor... ?
