Did you download wifi tether from the market?? It's well known that connectivity issues can arise from using that version. Go here and download number 11, and it should work. If not, try other version numbers.....One will work for you for sure. Hope this helps!

11 will probably be good.
Should you need to try others, pre 9 and pre 14 have worked well for me and others.

Has anyone had any success/problems with the RC1 or the RC2 that was released 7 hours ago?

Haven't tried.....Is there suppose to be a significant change or difference in these?

Tried 9 but didn't work. This time i at least got the green signal bars. It once again said connected but i had the yellow exclamation mark again and no signal. I will try 11.

Thanks guys

I have no idea, the went from using pre x to RC x....

Hmm.. not working? Thats interesting. If you get problems with 11 too, them maybe its not the app.

Did you ever get that kernel to flash?

If you go to menu>settings>about phone>software information .... what does it say for your kernel version?

Thats how you can check that it flashed properly by the way.

Edit: Encrypted is only to make a password for your network. You dont need it to do anything other than keep people you dont want off. (theyll steal all your speed and slow it down...and take your limited amounts of data!)

ok 11 says its connected and signal bars are full green and this time there is no yellow triangle, but i still have no signal.

Heres what my kernal info says

2.6.32.15-netarchy-toastmod-4.1.9.1-cfsroot@paris-laptop #7

Interesting.....you should be good to go if there's no yellow exclamation triangle......when you open wireless networks on your PC you see android tether, right?? You connect to that then what exactly happens??

I found another app here
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/107318-wireless-tether-help.html

towards the middle of the paige a person replied and said that one worked for him.

I downloaded it and the bars are green on my pc, i see the signal, I connect to it, this time there's no yellow triangle, yet when i try to open a page it tells me I have no internet connection. WTF! This is killing me

yea now they are i rebooted phone.

My comp shows my evo's signal
I connect to it and it says im CONNECTED
yet when i go to a website i have no web access

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

What does it say on your phone. Does your phone say you're connected?? Do you see a yellow shield looking icon at the top left of your phone??

When you first connect you should see a screen pop up on your PC that asks you what network it is (ie: home, work, or public network)....Have you seen that screen and chosen which network it'll be?

Also, do you have access control enabled or disabled?

I chose the home connection.

How do i figure out if i have access control enabled or disabled?

I chose the home connection.

Should be in wifi tether settings....If it's enabled and you don't authorize your IP address (there'll be a check mark by it if you've allowed your computer to connect) then you won't be able to use your EVO's connection to surf the web.

here's a picture. it shows connected but i have no internet access. There's also no yellow triangle.

Have you ran a diagnostics through windows at all?
yes i have. It runs the diagnostic and resets my adapter and it says problem fixed. Then when i open up networks and sharing on my laptop it shows im connected to my homes wifi signal and not my phones.
