Help Can NOT hear caller

Hey everyone, I have a major problem here. When someone calls me or when I cal somebody, I can NOT hear them at all. It is just mute. But they can hear me.

Anyone else experience this? If so, please let me know if you have a solution.

I'm using the android 2.1 update 1.

*Note: The problem goes away after I pull out the battery and reboot. But I would like to know the cause (app, settings?). I don't want to have to reboot the phone every time I get the problem. I want to avoid it all together.

I have the same problem. The In-Call Volume is constantly turned down. I use Quick Settings and I turn the volume all the way up in there. When I exit that window and immediately go back into it, the In-Call Volume is back to zero. It is very frustrating.
