Help Can not install on usb storage or sd card

Newbie
Hey guys, I seem to be getting the above message every time I try to install an app that automatically installs on the sd. I have tried to find the file that is mentioned around the net in the android_sercure folder, but I can not seem to find it. Is there any other way around this problem?

It is always the same two files that will not update and they are on the SD card.

Yeah, but for the life of me I can't find them! Whether I try going through file explorers on the phone or plugging it in to the pc and searching that way. All hidden files are visible etc, but I can't find anything...

Getting annoying because there are a couple of apps that I want and I just can't download them...

Have you had any luck getting this resolved?
I am now also having this issue and also searched but couldnt find the tmp file to remove.

if ''/sdcard/.android_secure'' is empty then look at here ''/mnt/secure/asec/'' I m sure you ll see the file in the end of the list there that starts with ''S'' in the list.

I am having the same problem. I had a locking app a few months ago that would not uninstall and I think thats when my problems started. I cant get certain apps to install and others wont update. It makes no difference whether they are on internal memory or SD card.

Today I did a factory reset on my phone and still cant get the app I want to download. I thought it just wasnt compatible with my handset but I've read other users of my handset have no problems.

I've just tried various apps trying to find the file mentioned above but likewise I cant find it.

Can anyone help

What is this app that you can't install? And what android version are you running?

Unless you are rooted and have moved something to /system, a factory reset will clear everything you have installed, so this locking app (?) shouldn't be the issue.

I too have the same issue. I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830, running on Android 2.2.1. I guess I started getting this error message ever since I tried to move the default installation location to the SD card (using $ setinstalllocation 2). Now I reverted this, but still no help.

I just started getting this message too. I went to the /mnt/secure folder listed in a message above and the folder was empty. Not sure if its related but this started happening after I installed
"clean master".

Boy...this sounds like me...after installing Clean Master all my library downloads no longer worked....I get the same Can not install on usb storage or sd card when trying to install axisreader. I see no “smdl2tmp1.asec” is any of my folders (even with show hidden files = yes).

Any other solutions??

Thanks

Which Clean Master did you install? I can see several apps of that name in the Play Store, so don't know what this was supposed to do.

BTW, what device do you have? It may be a device-specific problem, in which case you may be better posting in the section for your phone (if, like the previous posters, you don't have a HTC Desire - and for this section that's just "Desire" with nothing else after it, as there are a lot of Desire models these days! ;)).
