Can one deny/stop the 2.3 upgrade ?

Would I be able to stop 2.3, and stay with 2.2
or
is one forced to install 2.3 ?

Thanks

no, you do not have to upgrade.

menu settings - software update - htc software update - uncheck the scheduled check. your phone will no longer ask you about updates.

Just a warning to anybody who is rooted. I had the box unchecked for the last 6 months, but when I looked after installing the rooted GB update, it had been rechecked.

Does the phone still require you to answer "yes" or click "continue" for the update? I'm picking up a used EVO 4G tonight that has not been updated and I want to be DAMN sure it doesn't update until I get some time to root it and put another ROM on it....

I was already rooted, so I don't have personal experience, but from reading other posts it sounds like even if it automatically downloads the update that you don't need to install it unless you click install.

Also, since the update is a decent size, even if it automatically starts downloading you should have plenty of time to stop it before it completes if your using 3g.

That will happen anytime you flash a new rom. You have to reset the setting.

Yes, you have to accept the update to download. Then you have to accept the installation of it.

Has any of the bloatware been removed with the update? I'm still not happy I have this excess crap (Nova, Blockbuster, etc.) from the last update. Just going to keep saying no in the meantime.

Thats not smart because you won't be able to use Netflix because it will only be available for those with gingerbread.
