Root Can only access Bootloader, Bricked?

Have done lots and lots of searching around the interwebs and the forum and found no solution.
The problem I have is that I can only get into Fastboot/HBoot (AlphaRev CM7 r2). If I click on recovery it gets frozen on AlphaRevs joker screen (I have the alpharev recovery installed, after getting S-off sorted). if I try and boot normally it also gets stuck on that screen.
Moreover I don't have a ROM flashed at the moment as this problem started after flashing RCMix S v1.9. After installing I clicked reboot in recovery but it remained frozen on the joker screen. When I next rebooted into bootloader the problem began
My device is recognised in Device Manager but I'm not sure what good that is.

Please let me know if any other info is required and hope there is something that can be done as I plan on selling my desire and upgrading to the sensation

The alpharev recovery is no good. Did clockwork 2.5.0.7 work before alpharev?

If so I assume you have an erase 20,000 device.

Best bet is to fastboot flash recovery using 2.5.0.7. I wrote an faq in my Sig if you need
 
Android Flasher worked a treat, am currently in recovery flashing a ROM.
Thanks so much for the advice, will definitely steer clear of alpharev recovery from now on.

Will confirm when I get a ROM flashed and have the system back up and running
 
It's worth checking your hboot for pvt version. If its 4, now you have recovery, use adb to ascertain if its erase 20 or 40,000. If its 20,000 no action to be taken. If its 40,000 you will need AmonRA recovery instead of clockwork
 
Just flashed Cyanogen, worked as normal :)
my version is PVT1, so presumably I don't have to worry about anything.
Which recovery do you recommend btw? I flashed some random one I had on my PC, but don't really like it, tempted to go back to clockwork unless you have an alternate suggestion.
Also going to go badger the people on the RcMix thread over at xda to find out why their ROMs aren't working.
