This is sort of an odd problem. Approximately a year ago my phone got dropped in a tiny bit of liquid. No problem, I pulled the battery, soaked it in rice for 3 days, and all was well. Only issue was, when using headphones or connecting to my car stereo, music sounded crackly. That was my only issue for the next 6 months. Then I switched phone carriers, switched phones. Went with them about 6 months, meanwhile my D3 sat on a shelf. Off. Unused. Unloved.
I recently came back to my D3, and it worked the same as it always did. Until today. I decided since I'm taking a long car trip in a few days that I should try to see about fixing that problem with my headphone jack. So I took a Q-tip, removed some of the cotton from the end, used a bit of Isopryl alcohol, and swabbed out the port. Barely damp. Then used a clean dry one after it.
Good news! Now my headphone jack works great with speakers!! Bad news! Music only works with my headphones in. The phone speakers work fine for notifications. The phone ringing. Just not for music, speakerphone, etc.
My question is, WHAT DID I DO TO MY PHONE? And how can I fix it?
