Can someone interpret this battery usage for me, please.

Maps has lately been appearing as running and being responsible for a large part of battery consumption in my Desire. Though I don't notice any detrimental effect on the already miserable battery life (have to charge it twice a day. I know, you switch off this and that, and basically not use the phone's features and then you can get a decent battery life. I was abroad over the new year holidays. Data off. Constantly on 2G. Occasional Wi-Fi browsing. The best I got was 1 day 21 h 36m with 26% battery remaining. But let's not turn this into another battery thread. There are plenty of them around and I've read them all).

It's just, out of curiosity, I want to know how to interpret battery usage. This never happened before and only started about a week or ten days ago. Before that, it would always be Android System that would sit at the top of the list.

Any views will be much appreciated. Thanks.

When did you last reboot your phone? Do a battery pull right now and let us know if the problem persists.

Why are you still reading this? I said now!!!

;)

Holding down vol down, power, and the track ball buttons simultaneously will save you having to rip the back off your phone. Sometimes if a cache needs releasing for instance a battery pull is the best thing.

If you wait for the screen to go black and leave the trackball go fastboot appears.

I am no expert and still trying to work out my own Desire but that looks like the maps and android system are showing the wrong way around. On mine it would be android system 93% maps 2%. It looks like like the names are the wrong way if that makes sense.Just a thought, but one thing I have found with android is switching the phone off and on again cures a lot of problems. Thanks for the vol, power trackball tip by the way :)

I've had this a couple of times. Maps sometimes gets hooked-up (or at least blamed by the battery stats for a rogue process that's hogging the battery).

As Dan says, a battery pull fixes it.

Just to update,I done the vol, power, trackball restart a couple of hours ago and I have checked a few times since then and maps app seems to have stopped runnung in the background, yay!!!! It was really annoying me :)

Thank you, all, for your input. I've just done a fast boot and Android System is back at the top of the list with 67%. But it's only been 3 minutes yet. I'll update here if anything unusual and/or useful happens.

Whatever it was, battery pull/fastboot has fixed it. Maps is gone from the list of active applications.

Thank you danfrance and InfernalByte.
