Root Can someone point me to a rooting guide for ZTE Warp Sequent?

I'm trying to root my Sequent, but I can't find any good links on how to. Can someone simplify for me? And can someone point me to a good ROM (if there are any) I'm just afraid I might mess up. I've rooted other phones before. Oh, and could I unroot it if necessary? Thank you for anyone can answer. Please don't attack me.
 
Is it supposed to take a long time at <waiting for device> ?
Or could that be because I'm not rooted?
And if I'm not rooted, then what did I do wrong? I also have SuperUser, so I must have root.
 
you have to have the phone plugged in BEFORE running my auto installer, i didnt put in a wait command for that, then once you run the program the phone will restart, the restart command comes before the one that tells it to wait for the device
 
and if the restart command works right you will become stuck on the green android boot screen till it finishes installing and restarts again. so if the phone is actually running and not on the green guy try again, if the green guy is on the screen, you havent unplugged it from the pc at all since starting the process, and its still not working, you either have a driver issue or you cant do it due to the fact that you cant use that method with usb 1.1 or 1.0
 
And how long does that take? Because I keep sitting here for 15 minutes at a time and then I just give up, unplug, and battery pull, but it always restarts my phone. Just after I restart my phone, it keeps saying <waiting for device>
 
the entire process shouldnt take more than 5 minutes. is the phone going to the green screen? and are you using the drivers i linked to? or trying to use the pdanet drivers?
 
the drivers you need once the phone restarts are different than the ones you need for adb to work. when it reboots and gets stuck on the android guy that is called bootloader mode and it requires the kernel debugging drivers, fastboot, and usb 2.0 or higher
those drivers are in the same package though if you got the ones from zteusa.com
rooting only requires the adb drivers, and you can use the pdanet drivers instead for that process but half of this process requires adb drivers, the other half requires kernel debugging drivers
 
not the programs, those are in the autoinstaller for clockworkmod, rooting doesnt require fastboot. you have to download the drivers either way though, its just some people insist on getting the "pdanet" drivers instead of the actual zte ones, and the pdanet drivers dont come with fastboot drivers its only adb, if we have questions about cwm tho can we ask them on the cwm thread from now on tho? keep this thread to things about the root procedure, that way it stays organized and people dont get confused thinking they need fastboot to root
 
both the package listed here, and my auto installer for cwm include all programs involved though so all you have to do is install the drivers, the rest is pretty well done for you
 
remenber just rename it recovery only because if u put recovery.img will look likes this recover.img.img and wont work just rename it recovery only check your sd card with whatever file manger and make sure said recovery.img but only rename it recovery happen to me until i find out what was the problem good luck
 
yea, i always make windows unhide the file extensions myself but most people dont even know how to do that. and its not always safe for people who dont know what they are doing. i still say use my autoinstallers tho, yea it requires a computer but so does rooting so obviously you have one and you got adb to work, kuz without root you cant do the commands anyway
