Help Can someone tell me why this may have happened

I charged the phone last nite, picked it up this morning, the screen was on with some tiny colored writing and the phone was totally reset.

You tried to root your phone in your sleep but only got so far??? But seriously i had a buddy's evo did the same thing, took it in and they ended up replacing it although i think he was still in his first 30 days. Good Luck.
