"Android Composite ADB Device"

One more question
what does it look like when you do ADB REBOOT RECOVERY ? just after you plug in the USB.

Is that windows 7 ? I wonder if they have some included. I originally had one that said my HTC so I had to load the modified INF from the sdk to get what you have there.

BTW thanks for all the updates?

I'm in and the device manager shows the same thing, Android Composite ADB Device. When not in, it shows nothing relating to the phone, just the 2 portable drives.

I don't think Win7 has anything to do with it as there have been others that have been successful with other OS's. Uninstall HTC sync and the HTC driver helper (i think that's what it's called). After I did that, and used the SDK from 10 min guide file, was in within 5 minutes.

So you did at one time have the HTC sync installed? If so then the driver info and files could have been added to windows.
I'm just trying to figure out what drivers you have and where they came from. ??? I'm wondering if some drivers out there may be slightly different or even fixed to prevent getting into recovery.

I just did a system restore to before I installed any drivers and installed HTC sync and it does have drivers. Anyways I'm going to give it a try
with these and see what happens.....Pray for me:rolleyes:

thanks for all your info.

Oh and thanks for showing me your rooted phone, show off! LOL :-)

I thought you were going to go without the htc drivers. have you tried that yet? uninstalling everything htc?

I had already used the others so I thought I'd try HTC's just for kicks. I've seen others that had the My HTC driver that were able to get root so I figured what the heck I've tried all the others.

Well I'm giving up for now. I'll give it another try when my new 6g sd gets here or until the next "This is how I got root" thread shows up telling me to count to 5 standing on my head and then to plug the sd into left ear hmmm now that I think about that's about the only think I haven't tried.

Try the sd card trick. With the sd in the phone, but not clicked in, boot into the bootloader. When you click to go into recovery, as soon as you hear the usb disconnect sound, push your sd in. I can get recognized in recovery 9 out of 10 times.

Run the loop.bat file while you do this so you get instant feedback.

I went back to the 10 minute video method and after it not working initially It works like a charm now. I just booted to recovery and waited. You still get the same bleep sounds where windows detects drivers (the same one you wait for when you do the Push in and out the SD card). After the second sound it goes to recovery after about 3 seconds Every times now. The only difference is I had gotten a new 8g sandisk SD.I've done it 10 times now and only twice did it not go but it always went the second try.
