Help Can tethering work on an F7?

In a word, "yes". I have pretty much the same set-up, F7, rooted with Simplicity rom. I use Wi-fi Tether and have my computer tethered to my phone as I type this msg. I'm on Boost Mobile.

Here are the settings I'm using to make mine work:
Device-Profile is Generic ICS/JB (wlanO)
Setup-Method is set to "Auto"
WIFI driver reload 2 box is checked
Routing fix box is checked

Hope this works for you

are those settings in wifi tether? any chance you can provide a link to the google play store website. "wi-fi tether" comes back with a lot of results.

if they are os settings. where do i find them?

thanks

Here's a download link to the one I'm using. The one I have running is the second one down, Ver 3.3 beta2

Yes, those settings are within WIFI Tether. Once you have the app running, touch the lower right corner of your phone and you'll get a pop-up menu. One of the choices is "Settings". It's the same area where you will give your network a name, set security options, etc.

I've had this happen too and my fix was to disable the wireless connection on my PC and then enable it again. After I did that it could then see the network being broadcast by the phone. I don't know why this solved my problem, but it did.
