Help Can you disable the update feature?

Ok, I have a G2X and it updated to 2.3.3 which I hate... I posted another thread asking if I can revert back to 2.2.2, which apparently isn't possible without rooting it. So like an idiot I went and just bought a new one that still has 2.2.2 on it. Problem is - T-Mobile now wants to update that one to 2.3.3!

Is there a way to disable this stupid update feature? Under Settings > About Phone > Software update there's no option to turn it off. Is there a setting somewhere else?

It keeps the stupid icon in the notification screen. The only option is to postpone it for a few hours - that icon stays there. So ignoring it won't make it go away - it will just run a few hours later.

At this point I hate T-Mobile and LG.

EDIT: And Google for making a phone in which you can't disable the updates. And for making an update that completely changes the way the phone looks and functions...

EDIT2: And now it updated anyway, so now I have two shitty phones when I had one amazing phone 3 days ago...

oh wow. that i didn't know. i had started downloading by going through the settings of the phone so i never got the actual OTA notice so i didn't know! my apologies.

how is it that you get the update so quick and i've been waiting for it all this time? lol

but i can see why you're frustrated. you should definitely look into rooting your phone if you're that unhappy.
