Help Can you speed up keyboard speed?

I just got the infuse and its my first smartphone, its very cool overall but the battery life is absolutely terrible and Im starting to really dislike the keyboard layout and the speed of it. Is there a way to speed up the keyboard? Yes I hate to admit I type as fast as a 15 year old girl but man this thing is way too slow, like when you have double letters it cant do it it only takes one of the two and it sucks!! and why the heck would they not have the comma and question mark on the same screen? Its looking like a stupid phone the more I use it which isnt even a day of battery life. Thanks for the help and my rant lol.
 
Try go keyboard or keyboard 8. I use the android keyboard. Because the spacebar is centered, and the comma and period are on the same board¿ and it has many swipe options. Umm it seems I had the exact opposite problem starting off, I used to hit the letter once and two would show up. Idk I gave myself a chance to get used to the phone, I'm 5 months in. I love it, I love it.
Also make sure u have all of the kernel updates. Idk I got mine the first week it came out. U might have got one of those restocks that some one dropped a couple times:. Had their greezy paws all ovr it. Lol
 
Try the Swype board. To access just put your finger in the text area for a couple of seconds and it will give you some different options for the key board one being Swype which a;;ows you to just trace your finger over the letters and it types them.
 
I use better keyboard, and I have a custom rom on my phone, increasing speed and battery life to greatness. Better keyboard has some pretty good themes for it stock.
