Can you tether on Verizon for free with rooted device?

I currently have a root Samsung Galaxy S4 and wanted to know if there is any way to tether for free? If not then it is not a huge deal. :p

PDANet and Possibly FoxFi...
I wouldn't use verizon for tethering,
Verizon has limits and if they do it how they used to They charge HUGE overages for anything past the limits.

I use this to tether my tablet and use Barnacle for those rare occasions when I need to tether my laptop.

And by rare, I mean rare. I wouldn't do that on a regular basis and only tether my tablet so I can watch Doctor Who while my son is practicing his karate. I'm not streaming hours of video or downloading a bunch of stuff.

If you're on a limited data plan, then you should be able to tether for free. However, if you're on an unlimited data plan, it's against the Terms of Service to tether without the unlimited tethering plan.

I have a rooted razr on Verizon with unlimited data and use wifi tether root all the time and have had zero issues.

Is it possible, absolutely. But since its against the terms of service, Verizon is within their right to take away your unlimited data plan or even terminate service on that line. I haven't heard much of the latter happening, but there are reports of the former happening in the past, especially if you use a lot of data.

Yes...it can be done.

Go over to xda-developers.com to get instructions.

Just keep in mind..do at your own risk

Been doing it for well over a year sometimes using 50+ gigs a month an Verizon hasn't contacted me once.
